What is a Joint Borrower Sole Proprietor mortgage?

A JBSP mortgage lets someone support an application with their income without becoming a legal owner of the property.

It's commonly used by parents helping a child buy a first home.

The person supporting the application is responsible for the mortgage payments if the owner doesn't pay, but has no ownership of the property.

Because of that imbalance, lenders usually require independent advice before signing.
