Website Terms of Use

These terms apply to your use of this website. They are not our terms of engagement. If we accept instructions from you, separate client care and engagement documents will apply to the legal services themselves, and those documents will take precedence.

Who we are

Your ILA is the brand under which Independent Legal Advice is offered. Legal services are provided by Green & Olive Legal Limited (trading as Green & Olive Solicitors), authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, SRA number 621890. Further detail is on our regulatory information page.

Information on this website

The content of this website, including guides, FAQs and the website assistant, is general information about Independent Legal Advice. It is not legal advice, it is not tailored to your circumstances, and it should not be relied on as a substitute for advice from a solicitor about your own documents.

Enquiries and when a solicitor-client relationship begins

Submitting an enquiry, sending documents, using the chat feature or speaking to us about a possible matter does not create a solicitor-client relationship and does not mean we have agreed to act for you. We are not obliged to accept instructions. A relationship only begins once we have completed our onboarding requirements, including identity verification and conflict checks, confirmed in writing that we can act, and you have accepted our terms of engagement.

Please do not send confidential information you would not want us to hold before we have confirmed that we can act. Information sent through this website is not treated as privileged until we are instructed.

Acceptable use

You may use this website for lawful purposes only. You must not misuse it by introducing malicious code, attempting to gain unauthorised access, submitting content you have no right to submit, or interfering with its operation or security.

Intellectual property

The content, design, branding and logos on this website are owned by us or our licensors. You may view and print pages for your own use in connection with an enquiry or matter. You may not otherwise copy, republish or commercially exploit the content without our permission.

Availability

We aim to keep the website available but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or withdraw all or part of it, and we may update these terms.

Links to other websites

Where we link to external websites, such as the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Legal Ombudsman or the Information Commissioner's Office, we do so for convenience. We are not responsible for their content.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on general information published on this website, or for loss caused by the website being unavailable.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory local consumer rules provide otherwise.
